Tens of thousands of workers have rallied in the city, calling for greater job security and wage increases.
Protesters rejected the idea they will eventually benefit from trickle-down economics, calling on business and government to share the wealth.
Premier Daniel Andrews was among those supporting the Australian Council Trades Union's Change the Rules march.
