Historian Jessica Hinchy has spent years researching the moral panic surrounding transgender people, known as Hijra or eunuchs, in colonial India.

Jessica explains how the criminalisation and persecution of Hijra is echoed today, with bills currently before the Indian parliament wanting to outlaw practices the community uses to survive.
