Eccentric character Letitia Lickkit made her debut on Melbourne’s stage with a delightful mix of creativity and sensory exploration, as part of the Melbourne Comedy Festival in late March.
Centring on the autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR), the Licckit was performed by New Zealand artist Amy Atkins.
As Lickkit, Atkins expertly created a relaxing yet humorous atmosphere, guiding the audience through an array of ASMR triggers in a show called ASMR Party.
The performance was a captivating journey, offering an immersive, interactive experience that blended calming whispers with playful engagement.
The audience was enveloped in stillness and enchanted by soft whispers and occasional jokes that provide the signature "tingles" ASMR enthusiasts crave.
Upon arrival, attendees were handed headphones to fully immerse themselves in the sensory experience, hearing Lickkit’s live whispers and subtle ASMR triggers.
The show also featured a monitor live-streaming images from a camera that the performer carries and moves to capture visual sensory triggers.
ASMR Party is structured in a series of segments, each introducing a new party scenario, a tea party, cocktail gathering or birthday celebration.
The diversity in party themes ensures the performance remains captivating, with each new segment offering something different while maintaining the show's playful and communal spirit.

Lickkit nurtured a seamless connection with the audience. The intimacy felt during the performance was not simply a result of the small venue, but rather the artist’s intentional, interactive choices.
Atkins, as Lickkit, invites audience members to participate freely, fostering an welcoming environment that encourages engagement and inclusivity.
This non-confrontational interaction allows the audience to feel a part of the experience, enhancing the communal and celebratory aspects of the show.
For both ASMR enthusiasts and those new to the genre, ASMR Party delivered a one-of-a-kind performance — making for a unique experience that promised not only "tingles" but also plenty of laughter.
