The Hawker 88 Night Market is full of incredible flavours from Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Japan and everywhere in between.

The dishes on offer, from more than 20 street food stalls, include Malay satay, Filipino barbecue, Indian curries and Korean pork belly.

Market CEO Stan Liacos said the spring market “will be a celebration of all things Asian”.

“It will be based on the famous and vibrant hawker markets in Bangkok, Hoi An, Hong Kong, Seoul and many other great Asian cities,” Mr Liacos said.

Long communal tables are also set up to provide adequate seats for visitors.

During the six weeks it will run, Hawker 88 Night Market has introduced a different theme on each Wednesday.

“There will be Mooncake Festival, Durian Festival, Asia Fest, Korea Night, Philippine Night, Bollywood Night, and Thai South-East Asia Night,” Mr Liacos said.

Apart from the traditional and authentic Asian cuisine at the Hawker 88 Night Market, a Chinese lion, Bollywood dancers, Malaysian bands, Filipino singers, and K-Pop performers will put on live shows each week.

Queen Victoria Market is trying to expand their season and hopes to introduce an autumn event next year.

“The aim [is] to eventually have a night market at Queen Vic Market on every Wednesday throughout the year,” Mr Liacos said.

Melburnian and long-time patron Olivia Jenkins said it would be great to continue the night market into different seasons.

Ms Jenkins said she was excited about the spring market because of the new food tastes. 

“It has been the same [kind of food] for the past couple of years,” she said.
