Mid-semester chic is all about the comfort

By MATILDA BOSELEY

Week seven means streetegists are neck deep in assignments and reading. Dressing up for uni is starting to feel more like a chore than a pleasure.

But why shun the lazy-day outfit when we can embrace it for the art form it is?

This week was all about comfy pants, big jackets and the cosy chic that the middle of semester is known for.

However, by far the biggest theme of this week seems to be a cup of coffee. Whether you’re a “Standing Room” or a “Flipboard’ kind of person, we agree that a cup of joe is the essential week seven accessory.

Lenore combines vintage fashion and comfortable practicality in style. Her retro Puma jacket with knitted cuffs and hem is dressed with classic light-denim jeans and chunky grey sneakers. Overall, the outfit is comfortable, down-to-earth and fashionable. A statement jacket like hers is perfect if you are looking to dress up while dressing down.

Lenore’s shoes can make a casual statement of any comfy outfit. We found a pair here to help you achieve a comfortable statement look.

Harry has gone for a zipped up anorak, but sets himself apart by wearing the hem high. Coupling this with waisted camel pants, his outfit is a quirky take on a classic Melbourne look, and proves that being comfortable and showing your alternative side are not mutually exclusive.

Uni might have a lot of rules when it comes to attendance and plagiarism, but there is certainly nothing to say you can’t wear pyjamas on campus. And Olivia is taking full advantage.

Worn with loose Cotton On pants and a printed pyjama T, Olivia’s outfit is completed by a warm draped grey woollen coat. Comfortable and bold, her ensemble has us all jealous that we didn’t think of it first. Harem pants are the ultimate lazy-day staple.  To help you achieve a similar look here is a real bargain we found from Target.

It seems like almost every day we are told the “'90s are back”, but Genevieve might disagree. Her comfy week seven look is two decades more ambitious. This classic brown faux fur trimmed coat is the '70s at its best. Coupled with a simple black dress, this outfit is a stand out for its simplicity and style.

Jake, however, is rocking clothes from his very own fashion line. If you want to support a fellow streetegist, head over to his store here.
