Pop goes the neighbourhood

They came in their droves to St Kilda for the vibe: the music, the grunge, the cheap prices, the atmosphere. But this bayside community has changed, and that loud rock music is now principally a source of complaints from annoyed neighbours. One of the few places that had managed to survive was Pure Pop Records on Barkly St, which relished providing full-strength performances and a lively experience. But even they now have succumbed to the changing times. BRENDAN O'SHEA reports.
