BOW DOWN TO THE TURTLENECK

It’s difficult to even talk about autumn and winter trends without mentioning the turtleneck. The high neck knit has taken over the fashion world. The traditional fine and chunky turtlenecks have been spotted worn with skirts and pants and layered under coats. But we’ve also seen some innovative new turtlenecks, with highly patterned prints and unexpected silhouettes layered under dresses and jumpers. With that said, we’ve rounded up one of our favourite turtleneck outfits this winter in this stylish streetegist.

MEET THE NEW RED RIDING HOOD

The cape is back in full force this winter as the season’s most stylish cover-up trend. This one elegant piece can do wonders for even the simplest outfit. There’s a lot to love about the cape – whether it’s cropped, has plenty of fabric and folds, is more narrow and tailored, or even a cape dress, it's time to embark on a new crusade and try the cape. And if that doesn’t convince you, surely that dash of superhero kapow will!

AHOY THERE MATEY!

This outfit’s nautical feel is completely on point. This streetegist appears to have looked to the high seas for inspiration, and we love it. The boat shoes, horizontal stripes and rolled chino shorts all compliment each other perfectly.  Simply put, we couldn’t be more on board with this outfit. We definitely won’t be making this sailor walk the plank any time soon, a runway could be on the horizon though…

SLAM-DUNK

To whoever said sporty couldn’t be stylish, we say WRONG! Naturally there is a comfort that comes with this type of outfit, but its appeal is not to be underestimated. Maybe it traces back to the archetypal jock, but many of us girls love a guy with a sporty look. There is definitely an understated ease and smoothness about this outfit. The beanie and the hoodie ooze a laid-back feel, while the khaki chinos and bright red sneakers add a dash of confidence and personality. This is the Michael Jordan of sports style.

THE PREPPY HANDBOOK

This streetegist is your quintessential preppy. There is something so very Ralph Lauren meets Tommy Hilfiger about this outfit, which makes us feel like we are watching an episode of Gossip Girl. His cable knit sweater, classic loafers and black-framed glasses definitely channel the style of a Harvard or Yale student. However, this streetegist has brought preppy to Monash and we couldn’t be happier.
