The best style in winter is warmth

With winter in its last month, the cold weather was far from shy this week. The sun may be out but the cold, crisp breeze reminded us to rug up or suffer the consequences. But in true Monash form at Caulfield campus, our Streetegists rugged up in style. This week’s top trends on campus were puffer jackets and trench coats.

The revival of the puffer jacket from of part hiking attire to weekly casual wear has allowed the fashion savvy to be snug and stylish at the same time.

Grace and Adrienne wore their Kathmandu puffers with some casual threads. A pair of jeans, plain coloured cotton T-shirt and some classic kicks made these girls look trendy while still being extremely comfortable on campus.

The Kathmandu and North Face puffers seemed to be the most popular for Streetegists, but Kristen showed us how to look chic in Cotton On. Her entire outfit was bought from the clothing store, including her hooded black jacket. Accessorised with some Lovisa chokers, this look is an affordable must have.

Although we all love the look and warmth of the classic outdoor apparel jackets, the cost can sometimes get pricey. If you are looking to own a puffer but not spend more than your bank account can handle, then I have found the option for you.

With the same downy puff as the Kathmandu, Komodo has created a $70 winter and spring essential (pictured right). The jacket comes in both navy and black and would look great with a white T-shirt, black jeans and some Stan Smiths.

But enough about the puffer. The second trend seen on Streetegists this week was the ever-faithful trench coat.

The long and structured trench came in different colours this week. From Lexi in a burgundy to Prashanti in grey, these coats were a stand out piece to layer over the top of your favourite jeans or a knee length casual dress.

Iris took a minimalist approach to her attire, wearing a cream French Connection jumper with her black coat. Paired with a Charles and Keith tote, this Streetegist looked trendy for her weekly tutorials.

We all may be dreaming of the signature trench by Burberry London, but while we save our weekly wages to afford one, I have found an everyday must have for less than a quarter of the price.

If you like the camel look of the classic Burberry, then jump on to ASOS for a bargain. For $65, this button-down sale item (pictured right) is an awesome addition to your winter and spring closets. With a little black dress, this coat can be dressed up or down for any occasion. Click here for the ASOS website.

With all these fashion trends fresh in your mind, use our Streetegists looks for some style inspiration.
