Death always close for Cairo's street dogs

Cairo is not the best place to be an animal. The Egyptian capital has an abundance of stray street animals, as well as rampant dumping and abuse of pets.  While a few safe havens do exist, Egyptians' unwillingness to care for mixed-breed, older, or special-needs creatures means most face a gloomy future. Monash student AMANDA SAXTON filed this report from Cairo.

This video report was filmed on a smartphone.
