Melbourne's most Instagrammable vegan eats

By JAS SHEPARD

Melbourne is widely known for its cafe culture, but options for an Instagrammable Sunday brunch can sometimes be limited if you are looking for vegan options.

MOJO News found three of the top vegan cafes in Melbourne to decorate your Instagram feed and make your mouth water.

Even non-vegans will find these eateries hard to refuse.

Serotonin Eatery

Serotonin Eatery has received cult status among the vegan community of Melbourne.

The busy café features bright artwork and messages of positivity promoting happiness and plant-based diets.

Swings in replacement of chairs are the main attraction in the outside area of the cafe. Release your inner child on your Instagram feed with a mid-swing snap.

The menu contains delicious food that is said to increase serotonin in the body – the happiness hormone.

This is achieved through the plant-based, colourful menu, positivity of staff members and free well-being and exercise classes every week, where all are welcome.

If you are looking to avoid the regular line for a table while achieving the perfect lighting for your brunch pictures, Serotonin offers a takeaway café experience.

Patrons are provided with all the essentials for a picnic in the sun in the Golden Square park across the road – a picnic rug, basket and the takeaway items from the Serotonin menu to be ordered in the cafe.

Treat yourself to Seratonin’s Notorious A.C.A.I. bowl.

The acai is topped with the seemingly indulgent ‘Not-ella’ hazelnut and cacao protein ball, a generous drizzle of peanut butter, chocolaty date crumbs and banana nice-cream, simply frozen and blended bananas.

The creamy, chocolaty bowl tastes indulgent and looks vibrant and colourful, but is gluten-free, dairy-free and refined sugar-free.

Your stomach and Instagram feed will thank you.

Urban Projuice in Albert Park is a renovated terrace cafe with a homey feel, which serves vegan whole-foods in an array of stunning colours.

The space is small, however, the shared table-style seating arrangement and outdoor areas allow for beautiful Instagram pictures while you bask in the sun.

Do not be fooled by the hearty big breakfast, which is entirely vegan.

The sunny turmeric scrambled tofu with a kick of chilli is buttery and melts in your mouth. You would hardly know you weren't eating eggs.

The tofu is accompanied by the homemade baked beans, beetroot hummus and a crispy potato rosti.

Not only will the brightly coloured plates adorn your Insta feed, but you will leave with a full belly.

The Vegan Shack is a hippie hideaway in the middle of Richmond.

It is the most recent project of mother and son duo Jansen Andre and Deb Jayne, who own festival food truck Rawbeet.

Plants line the rustic brick-exposed walls, adorned with positive slogans in bright neon lights.

The rustic, beachy vibe allows you to relax and get the best Insta.

The Shack translates comfort food, like toasted cheese sandwiches and pancakes, into vegan wonders - colourful and moderately healthy.

The chocolate berry pancakes are difficult to refuse.

The decadent cacao chocolate sauce, banana nice-cream (blended frozen bananas) and fresh berries atop the fluffy gluten and grain-free chocolate pancakes are as decadent as they are beautiful.

And don’t forget the fresh flowers placed on every table, which make for the perfect backdrop for your Instagram pictures.
