Generation J  asks journalism academic Associate Professor Fay Anderson if images have more power to inspire change than words alone, or if these graphic images desensitise their audience.

We also explore the gap between the power of images in the press and the professional recognition of photographers.

Interviewee: Assoc/Prof Fay Anderson is an academic in the School of Media, Film and Journalism at Monash University. She has written extensively on media history and photography. Her book Shooting the Picture: Press Photography in Australia, co-authored with Sally Young, is out now. 

Presenter: Charles Taylor is a third-year Journalism student at Monash University and an associate producer of Generation J.
