Ah, the start of spring.
The sun may be shining more often, but the weather certainly hasn’t fooled any streetegists into pulling out their summer outfits just yet.
Coats and jackets are still common wardrobe staples worn in various shapes, colours and styles by Monash Uni’s fashion-conscious streetegists.
StyleCaster named shades of tan and shearling as two of the best trends from New York Fashion Week Fall 2016, and Cartier pays tribute to both these trends in one comfortable yet stylish item: a sand-coloured, double-sided vest lined with synthetic wool from Bershka.

Her matching tan backpack completes the whole look, which is a plus. The outfit choice is perfect if you’re looking for inspiration to layer less while staying warm, as we head into the somewhat unpredictable spring weather in Melbourne.
Another big trend from this year’s fall NYFW season is faux fur. Marilou’s faux fur jacket is a cute take on the trend while keeping her warm and comfortable. The overall outfit is gives a relaxed look matched with a pair of jeans and casual sneakers.
For a slightly more sophisticated take on the faux fur jacket without the expensive price tag, we found on target.com.au. Click here to see where to buy it.

Now, it’s time to switch gear to high fashion mode.
Christine’s red Louis Vuitton scarf injected a pop of colour into her otherwise dark outfit.
If you’re into layering with block colours and shades, definitely look to Natalee’s outfit for some inspiration.
Natalee’s coat showcases homegrown experimental design from Australian label C/MEO Collective (formerly Cameo The Label), which she contrasted with a blue sweater layered over a dress. Overall, her outfit is simple, elegant and empowering at the same time.
And finally, the NYFW plaid trend can been seen on Yaxin. This timeless pattern will never get old, especially on a classic coat. For an equally classic coat, we found a very affordable trench on Tidebuy. Click here to check it out.
