A week has passed since vegan activists brought Melbourne's CBD to a standstill by blocking one of the city's busiest intersections, but the debate they ignited rolls on.

They demanded a world where people no longer looked to animals for sustenance, turning instead to a plant-based existence. In doing so they were branded "green-collared criminals" by top levels of government.

Despite many of the CBD protesters staging a passive sit-in while holding banners that read "this is a peaceful protest", others intent on spreading the same message were simultaneously invading farms and abattoirs across the state.

Recent events have brought the tactics used by vegan activists into sharp focus, but they are not new.

Eight months ago MOJO News reporter Matilda Boseley documented a raid on Gathercole's Abattoir in Carrum Downs.

Many of the activists involved in the film you're about to watch were later instrumental in putting country Victorian business The Gippy Goat out of business.

The owners blamed the "constant harassment" of "abusive vegan activists" for shutting their small business permanently.

No MOJO News reporters trespassed in the making of this film.
