Myer's former Lonsdale Street store has been transformed into Emporium Melbourne, which will hold more than 200 designer retailers. This seven-storey shopping mecca's soft opening on April 16 launched Australia's first Uniqlo flagship store with the formal grand opening expected in August. BARBARA LEGASPI took a look inside.

Emporium's opening completes a massive, inter-connected fashion hub that spans the central CBD and takes in Myer, David Jones, Melbourne Central, GPO and The Strand.

It brings some big names in fashion to Australia for the first time – Uniqlo, UCLA and Zoo York – as well as expanding some existing names into their first stand-alone stores in this city, such as Michael Kors and Brooks Brothers.
