Looks that lingered: our tribute to the semester's most stylish streetegists

Streetegists – our experts in street style

Cut from the cloth

This pashmina was a stand out, made from fibres thinner and finer than cashmere. It was a great example of how a light shawl can be as heavy as a warm wool coat. Could this have been any more perfect for a Melbourne winter? We think not. The paisley pattern of this pashmina added a beautiful feminine and classic air to this outfit, while providing a burst of colour. The pashy, as we affectionately dubbed it, will set you back. This outfit taught us that some things are worth saving for.

Widen up your wardrobe

We loved the move away from uncomfortable skinny jeans towards dramatic wide-legged pants in this outfit. These trousers were perfect for spring. The choice from sporty or floral, subtle hues or bold colours was a great example of the diversity of this style. The oversized aesthetic of these trousers stopped us in our tracks, we simply couldn’t look past this sophisticated and slouchy silhouette.

Have a trick up your sleeve

The heavyweight cotton long sleeve T-shirt was a huge trend in campus fashion this semester. We loved the super cool graphics on this long sleeve T-shirt that channeled an unmistakable street style vibe. Pairing it with a beanie and some retro Converses made this shirt so stylish that this streetegist could have rocked it at a formal. This outfit was both stylish and durable, and was a great wardrobe pick for the transition into spring.

 Checkmate

This was one of our standout trends this spring. We didn’t think this pattern could be any sweeter with its ’60s retro appeal. Checks can be both soft and classic, while still capable of being paired with a leather jacket and a Vespa (or in Macklemore’s Case – a moped). This pattern couldn’t be less reminiscent of a school dress, with its sophisticated and adult appeal. As this streetegist has shown, it is the absolute crux of looks: feminine, rebellious, youthful and refined all at once.

Maxi dressing

As temperatures rose, our streetegists seemed to reach for breezy maxi skirts to combat the heat. These skirts were the perfect way to look chic on those scorching summer days. The beautiful long flowy style of these pieces struck a chord with many fashion lovers and style setters, which we absolutely loved! This outfit taught us to fight the urge to approach our summer wardrobes with mini-skirts and embrace the bohemian trend.
