Charlie Ranger aka Fishlace Jones addresses with engaging wit, the pitfalls and successes actors go through when bringing a character to life on stage in his performance, Behind the Curtain.
Excited about his first one-man show he said he is known as the “King of Melbourne’s Independent Theatre”.
Performed for the first time at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Behind the Curtain is perfect for anyone tired of the mainstream stand up comedy shows.
The 45-minute show is constantly changing mood and sentiment, from dark comic voices of criticism and doubt to being observations that send you into hysterics.
He uses the small space at Globe Alley to tap into the crowd creating a genuine connection between himself and the audience.
“I am trying to create a nurturing and creative environment and like the idea that the theatre is a safe space for a conversation between the artist and the audience,” Mr Ranger said.
Its taken him many years to develop a system for a perfect performance, and now he’s ready to share his secrets.
“I have written, produced and starred in well over 130 one-man productions since the tender age of three,” Mr Ranger said.
During his performance he takes the audience through a number of acting and theatrical exercises ranging from channeling your spirit animal to teaching the art of subtle seduction.
Mr Ranger is a performer with over 10 Melbourne International Comedy Festival’s under his belt.
