When someone lives with a disability, society sometimes struggles to see the individual beyond that. Simply Beings is a podcast that shows people as more than their disadvantages and explores the hardships they face because of societal perceptions.
In this debut episode, Sheetal Singh talks to musician and student Luke O’Brien. Luke was first diagnosed with anxiety and depression about four years ago. To end the stigma around mental health, Luke uses rap music as a medium to spread awareness.
Sheetal also speaks with psychologists Dori Kabillo from Nexus Psychology and Crysta Derham from Melbourne Clinical and Child Psychology, and patients, including Eman Malik, about the effects social isolation during the coronavirus pandemic is having on those seeking assistance.
